I am battling a loss of range of motion in one of my hips due to arthritis. It is getting to the point that I can’t cross my right leg anymore or tie my right shoe. I was referred to Schuster Physical Therapy for treatment that could possibly … More result in me avoiding a hip replacement. Prior to my first treatment my expectations were low that I would receive any real relief for the stuffiness and pain in my hip. I thought that I may see some relief after months of treatment, but I would never regain all of the range of motion in that hip.
Upon arrival for my first session at Schuster my case was assigned to Emily Kesterson. Immediately Emily did a complete and through examination of my condition recording my ability to move each joint in my lower body and my loss of ability to do so. She was very professional and explained each test and how it would come together to formulate a plan to reduce the stiffness in my hip.
After the examination, we went through an exercise routine targeted at increasing my range of motion and reducing the pain in my hip. Emily was very focused on me completing each movement without causing me additional pain or injury to my hip. After the session ended she gave me some take home exercises to do on my own.
As I walked to my vehicle in the parking lot, I realized that I was moving with a reduced amount of pain. My hip felt better that it had in years. After subsequent visits, my pain level has steadily decreased, and my range of motion has increased. I am now hopeful that this condition can be mitigated through Physical Therapy, and I can avoid having that joint replaced.
If the remaining Physical Therapist at Schuster are as professional and knowledgeable as Emily, you will be very pleased with your results.
