Blake
PT, DPT
Blake Koeval grew up just outside of Winston-Salem, NC, but has always enjoyed spending time in the western NC high country and is now happy to call it home. Blake received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Exercise Science at Appalachian State University in 2019 and 2022, completing a thesis project on chronic ankle instability. Having incurred many overuse injuries from running cross country and track, and having developed an interest in sharing his love of movement with others by teaching ski lessons for many seasons at Appalachian Ski Mountain, Blake decided to pursue physical therapy as a career. He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from East Tennessee State University in 2025.
Blake’s clinical interests include a multitude of orthopedic and neurological conditions, especially ankle injury rehabilitation and balance training. Outside of the clinic, Blake enjoys spending time with his wife, hiking, running on trails, camping, backpacking, skiing, and most other things outside.
Fun fact: Blake’s great grandfather’s last name was changed from its original spelling to sound more German for easier passage through Ellis Island, which makes him the only “Blake Koeval” in the world!
