Karys
PT, DPT
I’m Karys Mawyer, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). I was born and raised on Florida’s Gulf Coast (Go Bucs!), where I developed a love for both academics and athletics. I followed those passions to Florida Southern College, graduating in 2011 with a 4.0 GPA, majoring in Mathematics and Exercise Science, and minoring in Biology, while competing in Cross Country and Track for the Moccasins. Persistent injuries during my collegiate career sparked a deep interest in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and coaching—interests that ultimately led me to pursue a career in physical therapy. I went on to earn my Doctorate in Physical Therapy in January 2014 from the University of Delaware, graduating from one of the nation’s top-ranked PT programs while completing a fifth year of NCAA athletics with the Division I Blue Hens.
As a physical therapist, I provide a wide range of treatments, including orthopedic care, post operative recovery, vertigo management, manual therapy, and balance training. I have completed additional coursework in: LSVT BIG (certification not currently active), vestibular rehab, exercise in pregnancy/postpartum, and rehabilitation of runners. Whether you’re healing from an injury or surgery, managing chronic discomfort, or training to return to sports, I’ve got you covered with evidence-based, personalized, fun, and effective treatment plans tailored to your goals.
Outside the clinic, I find joy in movement, creativity, and lifelong learning—especially when I get to share those experiences with my husband and kids. Whether we’re discovering new places, trying out new recipes, gardening, or restoring furniture, I love staying active and curious. I’m always up for a little friendly competition, so if we aren’t creating at home, you’ll often find me on the basketball court, cycling, running, or lifting weights.
Fun Fact: Karys loves to talk football
